Virtual Gingerbread House
Some kindergarten students have a difficult time getting used to the mouse and the concept of drag-and-drop (though most are better at this than the kindergarteners a few years ago). And many benefit from a variety of sorting activities.
Children’s illustrator Jenny B. Harris has created a “Home Sweet Home” candy house that can be decorated with many delectable sweets dragged onto the house.  Let them play for manual dexterity practice, or ask them to sort and decorate only with candies they like, only with candies of a certain shape or color, etc. The completed house can be printed and used for a story starter, perhaps with students adding hand-drawn characters. The graphical representation can help students understand setting as well.
