10 Things to do with a Data Projector

Our classrooms just received a data projector and document camera in each room.  (Thank you PTA, social studies funding that chose data projectors over buying pull-down maps, and our pilot Ignite! program for the funding.)

Here’s a quick list of things we suggested that teachers might enjoy doing with them, in the categories of maps, online picture books, and videos.  Nothing earth-shattering, but a nice reminder, nonetheless.

Hey, Jude, the Edublog-nominated blog by Australia’s Judy O’Connell, pointed me toward Giveaway of the Day, a site that, you guessed it, gives away a free, licensed software download a day. When I found out about it, the two things I was most interested in were no longer available, so now I’ve got the site’s RSS feed in my Bloglines account.

Has anybody used this site? Anything we should know before diving in?

New York Times: The Well-Wired Use Libraries More

A few posts ago, I mentioned the latest Pew Internet and American Life study. I found it interesting that the Yahoo/Reuters article and my own reading of the executive summary different. Today’s New York Times summary of the study extracts still different information: that those who have the fastest Internet access use libraries most. What do we make of a study that is summarized differently by so many?
