Even GarageBand has licensing limitations for K-12 use that we’ve run into. There is some copyright safe audio (Soundzabound) that works in GarageBand and all Apple and PC programs. Volume 5 has the best tracks. We were also allowed to make a video yearbook and sell it for profit with no problems. The company also sends us user statistic reports as well. Pretty cool.

I’ve added a link to the article on our district Google doc used for tech committee collaboration. I hope several will read it. Too many teachers don’t truly understand fair use in the copyright law.

Hi, Pat — Actually, my colleague Roberta found it. I forgot all about GarageBand as an alternative that gets around the whole issue — thanks for the reminder. We’re now a PC-only district. I sure miss iLife!

Great article - a ‘must read’ for any educator creating videos. Thanks for finding and sharing it. Now if we all had access to Apple’s Garage Band the music you so easily created would be yours to use.
