Blogs as Art Gallery, Portfolio, and Artist’s Notebook
One of the things I do from time to time is look at the blogrolls on other people’s blogs. I like to see what the bloggers I follow are reading.
That’s how I found Carol Marine’s Painting a Day. As the title implies, Carol is an artist who posts a daily painting along with a few notes about the techniques she used. Not only can you view her daily work, but, cleverly enough, she also posts a link to eBay, where you can bid to buy the painting.
As our 2.0 journey continues in our building, both through our professional development project and as we continue to deepen the ways in which 2.0 tools can deepen student learning, I’m trying to stretch beyond textual applications for blogs.
Carol’s blog gives me an idea for how we could use blogs to create visual portfolios, track growth over time, and share images with others.

Cool! I have my education blog, but I did branch out recently and challenge myself to a photo-a-day blog. It’s a fun way to make myself take more pictures. While I’ve sold photos in the past, I never thought about doing it on the blog like this. Great idea!
