Bunk Beds in the White House Oval Office (and other inaugural resources)
**updated Mon., 1/19, 4:45pm**

Looking for a last-minute Inauguration Day activity? How about this Web site, which lets you decorate the Oval Office with recession-friendly furniture from IKEA? (I know, I know, it’s just advertising, but you can even put Sasha and Malia’s PUPPY in the Oval Office.)
Or this one, that lets you turn a photo of your choice into a poster in the style of Shepard Fairley’s iconic Obama images? (I used this image from Melvil Dewey from Wikipedia)
Seriously, though, here are some inauguration links for your school:
- NEA/AFT lesson plans for the inauguration
- Official inauguration Web site
- Washington Post’s Inauguration Watch
- Associated Press/Boston Globe article about how many schools will mark the inauguration and a similar article in The New York Times
- CNN’s Inauguration Coverage, including online streaming of the inauguration activities
- CNN Video on the nation’s only 10 year-old reporter with inaugural press credentials
- Inaugural resources from Facing History and Ourselves (the Obamas have been long-term supporters of this outstanding educational organization, which has an office in Chicago)
- Inaugural resources from Teaching Tolerance
- Past inaugural speeches on Hulu.com
- Photos from the Library of Congress of the Lincoln Bible that Obama will use for the Oath of Office
- Search the Library of Congress’ American Memory site for Inauguration items, including Robert Frost’s 1961 poem, photos, etc.
- Obama’s Open letter to his Daughters (sniff, sniff, wipe eyes)
- Contacting the President
- Podcasting Letters to Obama (earlier blog post)
- Make yourself into an Obama Poster with Obamicon.Me from Paste Magazine
- How reading impacts Obama (NYTimes)
