Staff Meeting on NETS*S #1: Creativity and Innovation

This morning, our staff discussed the NETS*S Standard #1: Creativity and Innovation.  It’s important to recognize that merely offering students a creative tool is not the intent of the standard.  In full, the standard reads:

NETS*S #1: Creativity and Innovation
Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes using technology.  Students:

  • Apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas, products, or processes.
  • Create original works as a means of personal or group expression.
  • Use models and simulations to explore complex systems and issues.
  • Identify trends and forecast possibilities.

We wanted to spend some time thinking about this standard to make sure we were thinking deeply about creative thinking and the need for revision when the first plan doesn’t turn out as needed.  You can view the PowerPoint here

We’re also launching a faculty book club on Dan Pink’s A Whole New Mind.
