Just ’cause it’s on the Internet doesn’t mean it’s true
In a PD session today, we were reminded of the impact of currency and relevancy in framing educational experience for today’s students.
So when I stumbled on this CNBC video, featuring Bravo TV’s reality stars from The Real Housewives of New York City giving their impression of the state of the economy, budgeting tips, and their barometers for measuring an economy’s health, well, case in point.
Here are currency and relevancy on parade. Do we really measure the health of the overall American economy based on the number of purchases made at a reality TV star’s Web site? (There are, by the way, a lot of returns.) Can we trust their perspective?
One could show this video to students and ask them how much they felt they could rely on this perspective. Why or why not?
(My favorite: double-bag your money and bury it in your yard. Ummm, save yourself the hassle of buying a spade — that’s not where my money is. Nor in my mattress. Sorry to disappoint you.)
