Hi, Margie. We wished for that, too, as users must be 13 years or older to use the site. We tried to get LibraryThing to let teachers take responsibility for the accounts, but they cited concern that they might be accused of violating the Children's Internet Protection Act. (I don't blame them.) The rep I spoke with said they'd love to launch a children's version, but they don't have the size of staff needed to make that happen.

I also enjoy LibraryThing, but I wish that they had an Education Version. (They do not allow children to utilize the site.) Think what a great motivator it would be for kids to keep track of their reading and see the numbers of their "books read" add up! It would also be great for students to gain the skill of generating their own tags and sharing book reviews with other students. Does anyone know of a similar site that allows educational access that I could use with my 2nd to 5th graders?
