What would your teachers say about you?
Kathy, a middle school librarian, has gotten the bad news that the certified school librarians in her district are on the cut list. She’s asked her teachers to advocate on her behalf. Here’s the video they made.
Which of these arguments do you think will resonate most with administration and board members?

I know Kathy and she’s every bit of this and has been since before her MLS. These cuts in our profession are so devastating to us all. Why does this have to happen? We’re told by administrators that we’re valuable but if we’re not scheduled to see students and take attendance, we are so easily cut. I wonder how many school boards have a vision for their districts without SLMSs and when/if/how they will be reinstated. So much will come to a standstill without school librarians. Just you wait and see!

She should follow that up with a video of students being interviewed - how will the Board be able to look those kids in the face after they make a video insisting that the librarian be kept!

I didn’t watch the whole thing but I don’t think these are the arguments a board will listen to. It’s the parents they want to hear from. That’s who we need to sell ourselves to because they are the ones that really can make a difference in these situations.
