Why We Can’t Wait for Raspberry Pi

Last night, four of us presented a panel for the 4T Virtual Conference about how the announcement of the $35 Raspberry Pi computer has got us excited and rethinking about how we could bring more programming, makerspace culture, and creative experimentation into the margins of the school experience. We had so much fun, with many folks remembering their early forays into programming … from Logo to Commodore 64 to the Apple II … and it was amazing how tapping into those memories excited participants about new ways to think about “educational technology” and students. The low price point for the RasPi means that, in Terence’s words, it’s OK if kids “fry the Pi” … in fact, that just might be the point!
