This week’s SYNC audiobooks are available for free download. As long as you download them this week, you can listen to them anytime. Like always, the project features one contemporary young adult novel (this week: Chanda’s Secrets by Alan Stratton) with a classic (Tess of the D’Urbervilles, by Thomas Hardy).

Enjoy this chance to catch up on reading while you make your next summer road trip (or while you lie on the sofa with a wet washcloth on your forehead, moaning, “The heat! The heat! I can’t move in this heat!”)

SYNC Audio Book Downloads of the Week

Thursday, June 30th, 2011

I don’t know about you, the school year is always so full of, well, school stuff that summer is when I really try to catch up on all the children’s/YA lit that I’ve missed all year. So I’m a big fan of the SYNC download project, now in its second week, which pairs a current YA audio book with a classic title. This week’s downloads are Cory Doctorow’s LITTLE BROTHER and Franz Kafka’s THE TRIAL. You can download them through Wednesday night here — free!

Although you can only download them for one week, you can listen to them anytime, as the files do not expire. Perfect for those summer roadtrips!

SYNC is back for Summer!

Wednesday, June 8th, 2011

The SYNC project is back, giving participants a pair of free YA audio-book downloads each week. The downloads are paired thematically, with one contemporary title and one “vintage” title. You have one week to download each pair, but you can listen to them at your leisure.

I really enjoyed this project last year, because I was exposed to a few classics I had always meant to read and a few YA titles I had overlooked. Feel free to spread the word!
