Congratulations to the I Love My Librarian Winners!

The Carnegie Corporation of New York, The New York Times, and the American Library Association announced the I Love My Librarian winners.  From the ALA Web site:

 Librarians in our nation’s 123,000 libraries make a difference in the lives of millions of Americans every day. Today, 10 librarians are recognized for service to their communities, schools and campuses as winners of the Carnegie Corporation of New York/New York Times I Love My Librarian Award. More than 3,200 library users nationwide nominated a librarian. The 10 award recipients are:

 From the American Library Association:

Librarians in our nation’s 123,000 libraries make a difference in the lives of millions of Americans every day. Now is your chance to tell us why we should shine the spotlight on a librarian at your public, school, college, community college or university library. Nominate your librarian for the Carnegie Corporation of New York/New York Times I Love My Librarian Award!

Up to ten librarians will be honored. Each will receive $5,000 and be recognized at an awards ceremony hosted by The New York Times at TheTimesCenter in December 2008.

Nominate a librarian who works in a public library! Public librarian nominations are open August 15 and must be completed by October 1. 

Nominations open for college, community college, university librarians and school library media specialists on September 2.

ISTE Technology Innovation Award - deadline 3/15/08

This ISTE announcement came to my email inbox a few days ago:

2008 ISTE SIG MEDIA SPECIALIST TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION AWARD

This annual award sponsored by Linworth Publishing, Inc. and Follett
Software Company will be presented to two teams of a school librarian
and collaborating teacher who have conducted an exemplary technology
program extending beyond the library to meet the needs of classroom
students and teachers. The purpose of this award is to identify,
promote, and sustain excellence in collaborative and innovative
technology-based projects driven by the school library media center in
support of curricular and instructional needs in elementary and
secondary schools.
