AASL Advocacy Tip of the Day blog

Thursday, November 4th, 2010

Hello from the Waldorf-Astoria Orlando! I’m here at the Florida Association for Media in Education conference, where I’ll be talking about Nudging Toward Inquiry tomorrow.

In the meantime, I’ve got a few minutes of down time. Kathy L reminded us on the MAME listserv of the AASL Advocacy Tip of the Day blog. A simple reminder every day (or so) to keep advocacy at the forefront of your thinking. Click the link at the bottom of the screenshot!

New Children’s Lit blog from Anita Silvey

Monday, November 1st, 2010

I am a big fan of Anita Silvey; we use her SLJ article “Has the Newbery Lost Its Way?” in our children’s lit class.

I just learned from Carl Harvey’s “Library Ties” blog that she now has a blog. And wow - what a great resource! Take a look at the daily goodness that can be yours!

PS - as you browse this blog/almanac, are you thinking what I’m thinking? “How did it get to be NOVEMBER???”

Oh Goodness.

I know what you’re thinking: you just haven’t gotten your daily fix of Kristin. Ha ha ha? Librarian humor?

Anyway, if you need a hit, check out this interview over at the Editorial Directions blog about the books for kids I wrote for Cherry Lake Publishing: Go Straight to the Source (on primary source analysis) and Podcasting 101.

Or, for you “visual learners” out there, this video about the “Nudging Toward Inquiry” project:

There. Now don’t you feel better? Anybody? Anybody? Bueller?
