***Here’s an announcement in my role as Program Chair for IASL’s 2008 conference**
Dear colleagues,
We invite you to participate in the 37th annual International Association of School Librarianship (IASL)We are excited about the submissions we have received so far for the 37th annual IASL conference at the University of California Berkeley, 3-6 August 2008. The theme for our conference is “World Class Learning and Literacy through School Libraries.”
The Research Forum track of the IASL conference links school library researchers and practitioners from around the world. It is an unparalleled opportunity to learn about school librarianship from a global perspective (with only a domestic airfare!).
To accommodate the greatest number of submissions, the call for proposals has been extended to February 1, 2008. The program committee is pleased to accept proposals for four types of presentations: professional papers, workshops, poster sessions, and Research Forum presentations.
All proposals are double-blind peer reviewed and published in the conference proceedings furnished to each participant and available after the conference.

ABOUT IASL
The mission of IASL is to provide an international forum for people interested in promoting effective school library media programs as viable instruments in the educational process. IASL also provides guidance and advice for the development of school library programs and the school library profession. IASL works in cooperation with other professional associations and agencies. Membership is worldwide, and includes school librarians, teachers, librarians, library advisers, consultants, educational administrators, and others who are responsible for library and information services in schools. The membership also includes a strong community of professors and instructors in universities and colleges where there are programmes for school librarians, and students who are undertaking such programmes.
